Episode 13 | Paige
In this episode, Paige shares her journey to motherhood after experiencing miscarriage and undergoing fertility treatment before falling pregnant with twins.
At 20 weeks, Paige and her husband learned that their daughter had a lung lesion and were told she might not survive to birth. The remainder of pregnancy became a period of uncertainty, frequent appointments, and difficult decisions.
Paige delivered her twins at 34 weeks and entered the unfamiliar world of the NICU. She reflects on her daughter’s surgery, her son’s ongoing challenges, the difficulty of receiving different opinions from different specialists, and the emotional weight of making medical decisions as a new parent.
Paige also shares what it was like for her and her husband to spend long days at the hospital, while he returned to work from the hospital cafeteria and they both tried to survive the intensity of that season together.
Later in the episode, Paige talks about coming home from hospital, returning to teaching, deciding to create a more flexible life for her family, and the identity shifts that accompanied both motherhood and leaving a career she loved. She reflects on therapy, self-worth, and learning to value the work of motherhood itself.
This is a conversation about challenge, uncertainty, identity change, and finding peace in the simple moments of family life.
